IKEA Will Finally Let You Shop Using Its Mobile App

Shopping for furniture usually involves you going to the store and having a look in person. This is usually a better idea because sometimes you need to test the strength and material of a furniture before deciding whether or not to go ahead with your purchase. IKEA has pretty much existed that way for a while now, but that could soon change.

The company has recently announced that they plan to launch a new app that will allow their customers to shop for their products remotely without having to go to its stores. This would make it easier for customers who might stay in further out locations and might have a hard time trying to access some of IKEA’s stores.

Speaking to Reuters in an interview, Barbara Martin Coppola, chief digital officer at IKEA said, “It is a completely new experience. The app is combined with the store experience, with the online experience.” The company plans on rolling out this new app in France and the Netherlands first before it finds its way to other countries.

This app seems to be building upon some of IKEA’s tech efforts, such as the IKEA Place app that allows users to use augmented reality to visualize furniture in their rooms. With this app, customers will be able to visualize furniture by inputting dimensions in the app, different tastes, and also different life stages.
